JKD (Jeet Kune Do) is among the most respected and sought-after martial arts systems worldwide, founded by the legendary Bruce Lee. Before his passing, Bruce Lee instructed that all JKD schools be shut down. He feared the art would be over-commercialized, reduced in quality, and turned into a diluted franchise model. Following his death, Enter the Dragon was released, sparking massive global interest in JKD. But with no official JKD schools available, people turned to Karate—which, though popular, bore no technical or philosophical resemblance to Bruce Lee’s original art.
Today, authentic JKD remains a rare discipline, taught only to serious students dedicated to learning Bruce Lee's true method. It is not widely promoted or advertised to the public.
JKD is ideal for adults, including those up to the age of 60. It is designed for individuals seeking complete personal development. Bruce Lee believed that martial arts training should be adapted to each individual, not confined by a rigid structure. Anyone—regardless of age, gender, or fitness level—can learn at a pace that suits them.
Training is personalized and delivered in small groups of less than 10 students, often in a one-on-one format. The course can be completed as quickly as two months or extended up to six months based on the student’s availability and commitment.
Submission techniques in JKD primarily fall into two main types: joint locks and chokeholds. Joint locks work by isolating a limb and pushing the joint beyond its natural range, compelling the opponent to surrender. Chokes restrict airflow or blood circulation, forcing a submission through pressure or unconsciousness.
There are many false JKD instructors, both in India and around the world. These individuals often falsely claim certification from Bruce Lee’s original students but cannot produce legitimate credentials. Most have never trained directly or indirectly under any of Bruce Lee’s disciples from five decades ago.
Unlike traditional martial arts, JKD has no official competitions, colored belts, uniforms, or kata (forms). However, unqualified instructors often mislead students by offering belt rankings, hosting tournaments, and teaching in structured uniforms—completely misrepresenting Bruce Lee’s art.
We are proud to be the only officially recognized JKD institute in Asia, affiliated with the IMB Academy, Los Angeles, founded by Grandmaster Richard Bustillo, one of Bruce Lee’s original senior students.
