The Tai Chi and Qi Gong sessions offered in Mumbai focus on Qigong (also spelled chi kung, chi gong, or qi gong), a comprehensive practice that integrates body movement, controlled breathing, and meditation. It serves purposes ranging from physical wellness and spiritual development to martial arts proficiency. Rooted in traditional Chinese medicine, martial philosophy, and spiritual understanding, Qigong aims to enhance and balance qi—commonly referred to as "life energy."
In Mumbai’s Tai Chi and Qigong classes, the practice involves gentle flowing motions, deep rhythmic breathwork, and focused meditative awareness, commonly referred to as moving meditation.
The term Qi (or Chi) represents life energy circulating within the body. Broader interpretations define it as universal energy—such as heat, light, or electromagnetic force. It may also refer to breath or the intricate connection between matter, energy, and consciousness.
Starting from the fundamentals: all things are energy in varying states—from solid matter to light, encompassing body, mind, and spirit. Energy can be visualized like water: ice, liquid, steam, or mist.
Every living being and form of matter emits an energy field. This energy radiates outward, becoming subtler with distance from its origin.
As you consistently practice Qigong, you'll begin to sense this energetic field. Initially, you'll feel qi between your hands. Over time, your energy awareness and vitality expand, helping you sense not only your own qi but also the energy in your surroundings.
Mental stress can significantly reduce your qi levels. When the mind is restless and unfocused, qi is drained by constant thought and nervous tension. That’s why Qigong emphasizes mental stillness and awareness, which allows for qi conservation and buildup. With enhanced health and a more centered mind, you gradually replenish your internal energy reserves.
If illness or internal weakness is present, instead of accumulating qi, your body will instinctively redirect that energy toward healing and repair.
Through in-depth research, we have studied the therapeutic effects of Qigong on various medical conditions. With backgrounds in conventional medicine, we distinguished scientifically validated techniques from traditional myths. Only the proven, practical exercises were retained—this evolved into what we now call Qigong Tai Chi Healing Science.
