MMA Ju-Jitsu Training in Mumbai

Wrestling involves a physical contest between two unarmed individuals, where each participant tries to gain control or dominate the other through strategic movement and technique.

The core techniques that define wrestling include clinching, joint locks, and using body leverage. While it avoids highly dangerous moves, wrestling shares foundational principles with military close-combat disciplines.

Submission Wrestling, also known as Grappling, is a combat sport and martial art that emphasizes clinch work and ground control, aiming to force an opponent to submit through various holds. It incorporates elements from freestyle wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, American folk wrestling (catch-as-catch-can), Sambo, and Judo.

Aikido, a Japanese martial discipline founded by Morihei Ueshiba, blends martial techniques with philosophical depth. It is commonly translated as “the way of harmony with life energy” or “the path of spiritual balance.” The art was developed to offer self-defense skills while minimizing harm to the attacker, promoting peace and protection.

Major styles of submission wrestling

  • Brazilian jiu-jitsu: Widely practiced in Brazil and the U.S., this discipline can be performed both with and without the traditional gi uniform.
  • Catch wrestling: An early form of submission grappling that originated in the United States. It has been gaining renewed interest in recent years.
  • Jujutsu: An umbrella term for traditional Japanese martial systems, many of which focus on hand-to-hand combat and grappling techniques.
  • Judo: A Japanese martial art known for its emphasis on throwing techniques using a gi. It also includes a strong groundwork component, featuring arm locks and various choke holds.
  • Luta Livre esportiva: A Brazilian style of wrestling that closely resembles catch or shoot wrestling, with a specific focus on no-gi grappling.
  • Sambo: Originating in Russia, this combat style incorporates elements of Judo. Practitioners wear a jacket but not traditional gi pants, and the system favors leg locks over choke techniques.
